Sea and beaches
Platja de Sant Sebastià is one of Barcelona’s most historic urban beaches, located at the southern tip of Barceloneta. At the start of the 20th century, it was almost exclusively the preserve of the well-to-do, with private bathhouses and sports clubs. Today, framed by the W Hotel, it stretches for a kilometre as an open, vibrant space, dotted with terraces, restaurants and a sense of calm in the off-season. Swimmers, locals, paddleboarders and impromptu volleyball players all mingle here. It is a place where the Mediterranean becomes part of everyday life, each wave carrying a piece of Barcelona at its most authentic.
