Pla de l’Os is a mosaic by Joan Miró from 1976, set into the pavement of La Rambla. Made in trencadís (broken tile mosaic) and using primary colours, it brings together stars, curves and symbols from his cosmic visual world. Created as a public work to bring art into everyday life and to welcome visitors arriving by sea, it is often passed over without a second glance. It only really comes into its own when you stop, an urban constellation that turns an ordinary walk into something unexpected.

This is good to know

It sits near Pla de la Boqueria. Many people walk past without noticing it, yet it is one of Miró’s most significant public artworks in Barcelona.
