Topos V is a striking metal sculpture in the heart of Plaça del Rei, in the Gothic Quarter. Created by Basque artist Eduardo Chillida, its open, geometric forms – reminiscent of stone – engage in a dialogue with the medieval surroundings, creating sharp contrasts while blending seamlessly into this history-rich space. Among its defining features are a series of arches, in which some discern the letter "B" for Barcelona, offering an intimate tribute to the medieval city it inhabits.

This is good to know

Its name means “place” in Greek, and here the location truly is everything. The square in which it stands dictated both its form and the materials from which it was made.
Take a moment to view the sculpture from different angles – each perspective offers a fresh interpretation, and no photograph can fully capture it.
