Homenatge a Picasso (Homage to Picasso) is a monumental public sculpture by Antoni Tàpies, created in 1983 to mark the centenary of Pablo Picasso’s birth. Found on Passeig de Picasso, it blends into the landscape of the Parc de la Ciutadella as a strong, enigmatic presence. Made of concrete and iron, it brings together a stark geometric structure and abstract gestures that hint at the creative freedom of the Málaga-born artist. It is less a conventional monument than an open form, a reflection on Picasso’s thinking that engages in dialogue with the surrounding city and its everyday life.
