Ona is both a historical and contemporary reference point for Catalan literature. Situated in the Eixample, the bookshop carries forward the legacy of the original, iconic Ona, expanding its vision with a modern, light-filled space alive with cultural activity. Its shelves bring together fiction, poetry, essays, art and music in a carefully curated selection that celebrates creativity in Catalan. Weekly workshops, book launches and reading clubs make the bookshop a vibrant meeting place for the city’s reading and creative community. Every corner is designed to inspire curiosity, discovery and cultural dialogue.

This is good to know

The space spans over 1,000 m² across two floors. Each area is organised by genre, with a children’s section, display tables and a carefully curated selection of art and design, creating an environment that engages all the senses.
On entering, a spiral sculpture made from books immediately draws the eye. It evokes the ebb and flow of waves and the continuous movement of ideas, serving as a visual emblem of the bookshop and a frequent subject for photography.
More than a bookshop, Laie is a space for reflection and discovery. Visitors can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, read at leisure, explore the art gallery, or uncover a new title in an unexpected corner – a hidden reading nook.
